Silent Book Club

Silent Book Club is a global community of readers with 2,000 chapters in 60+ countries. There is no assigned reading or pressure to say something smart. Bring a book you are currently reading and settle in for silent reading.

All readers are welcome—ebooks, audiobooks, textbooks, comic books, etc.

Come alone, with a friend or your own book group!

The Grosse Pointe Chapter of SBC has two great locations with different dates/times to enjoy

In the winter months we gather around the fireplace at the Ewald branch and outdoors on the patio when the weather permits.

Feel free to bring your own food and drinks to outdoor events and covered drinks only when indoors.

Silent Book Club - Metro Detroit Summer Passport Program - June - August 2026

Metro Detroit Silent Book Club Chapters are launching a SBC Summer Passport Program! Participants will receive a Summer Passport that they bring to local chapter events to have stamped. The more chapters you visit, the more entries you receive in the raffle plus the more fun you have reading in different locations across Metro-Detroit. There are 22 SBC Chapters participating!

Visiting 3 chapters = 1 entry

9 chapters = 3 entries

15 chapters = 5 entries

22 chapters = 10 entries + Special Prize

Interested in participating? You can pick up a passport at the next GP Chapter meeting on June 9th at 6pm at the War Memorial or email info@gpfriends.org to request a Passport.

Silent Book Club - Metro Detroit River Reading Cruise - Saturday, May 16th at 2pm - 4pm

The Friends of the GPPL collaborated with Metro Detroit Silent Book Club Chapters to host a River Reading Cruise! On Saturday, May 16th from 2pm - 4pm we enjoyed reading and giving away prizes aboard a Diamond Jack private charter.

The event was a great success and we hope to host one again next year. More details to come!
